Danish Klimaforum has called for international protest in support of the app. 1.000 innocent demonstrators' demands for damages during the climate summit in Copenhagen 2009.

The way the police have worked still seems to astonish. From the ongoing trail it has emerged that the Danish Police established collaboration with several foreign police forces. Though non of the arrested COP15-demonstrators has been accused of anything, the Danish Minister for Justice has acknowledged that Danish Police passed on information on arrested COP15-demonstrators to police forces in other countries.

The Minister has explained that ”it was done to prevent future unrest”. At least one foreign police authority has contacted a demonstrator after his homecoming.

Many of the people that participated in Copenhagen’s COP15-activities came from countries without adequate legal rights and due process. The Danish Minister has now officially been asked to explain how many of the detained participants the Danish police passed information on and the countries involved.

The trail continues Monday 16 Aug.

Klimaforum Denmark is contributing to an info stand organised by the Grassroots Network for Sustainable Transition Denmark (GNBO). GNBO is a new network that covers most of the organisations that stood behind the People's Climate Summit during COP15.

Aim of the info stand is to promote local grassroots organisations and to start a dialogue about solutions to the climate crisis with the festival participants. You can find our info stand at the Green Market at City Centre East at the camping area.

We try to involve people in different activities under the title "Klimavisoner - Climate Visions".

  • You are able to tell your “Climate Vision” to the cameras of KlimaTV and they will post it at ditklimatv.dk.
  • Mother earth is inviting you to chat about your contributions to improve her well being.
  • Play your part in the Game for Climate Justice, try to negotiate a just and sustainable climate agreement in three years and choose policies from the perspective of the countries from the global north or south. Can you deal with the peak-oil, fake experts and false technological solutions?
  • Get an overview about the diversity of grassroots organisations in Denmark who work for a just and sustainable transition. You think this challenge is worth to spend some time? Get in contact with the organisations and support their work!

Our friends from attac and Friends of the Earth Germany/BUND in cooperation

with Alliance Klimawelle (“Climate Wave”) Bonn are organizing a strategy and

Capitalism is the cause of climate illness! Global Movement begins the cure!

By Ron Ridenour

Presenting the People’s Agreement—“mother earth does not belong to us, we belong to it”—worldwide was the first act of the Global People’s Movement for Mother Earth. This was carried out in May by Bolivia’s President Evo Morales and representative activists from five continents.

Representing 35,000 people from 147 countries, they presented the conclusions of 17 workshops—held April 19-21 at the World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth (WPCCC)—to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, to the Non-Alignment Movement (now 130 Third World countries) plus China (the world’s second greatest polluter), and then to leaders of the European Union.

President Morales initiated the people’s conference as a response to the failed COP15 held in Copenhagen, Denmark last December. The so-called “Copenhagen Accord” was strongly biased in favor of the rich governments and transnational capitalist corporations that continue business as usual: extracting unlimited profits from human labor and natural resources while contaminating Mother Earth with its gaseous emissions and devastating wars.

Although conference delegates decided to take their analysis and proposals to COP16 to be held   November-December in Cancun, Mexico, President Morales warned, at a May 6 news conference in New York, that there are only two choices: “Either save capitalism, or save Mother Earth. If Cancun is the same as Copenhagen, then unfortunately the United Nations will lose its authority among people in the world.”  He implied that peoples’ movements might replace the UN.

About the Cochabamba Climate Conference:

People from around the world are attending the Peoples' Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth in Cochabamba, Bolivia this week as a follow up to the failed UN Climate Talks in Copenhagen, Denmark last December.

Social movements have converged in Cochabamba to rally opposition to the push by the world's leading carbon emitters to promote unjust and false solutions to climate change such as carbon offsets, and to make a collective push for stricter binding carbon reductions, reparations for industrial-driven environmental destruction, and a human rights approach to climate policies.

PAN AFRICAN CLIMATE JUSTICE ALLIANCE

Say “No” to the Copenhagen Accord

The Copenhagen Accord threatens Africa’s future. It was the result of an exclusive, untransparent

and undemocratic process involving around 28 countries selected by the Danish

government, which excluded over 160 countries.

Africa’s position was supposed to have been defended by Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of

Ethiopia. But the Copenhagen Accord falls far short of the African Group Position.

It is an illegitimate document that was not mandated and ignores years of work in the

legitimate UN processes. It was not adopted by the UN, is non-binding and has no legal

standing or effect.

1 million signatures sought for GM moratorium

GM Food: get the facts first

The EC has just allowed GM crops into Europe, ignoring the concerns of the

research and a moratorium on GM crop development. With 1 million citizens'
signatures, we can make an official legal request to the European
Commission. Sign below and let's get to 1 million:
